CSX McClelland Sub-Division.
A N-scale layout by Steven Shick
The layout is loosely based on a ex-B&O double track mainline in northern West Virginia. Operations will represent a modern coal main line and small collection yard serving local coal mines and industries. Four-six train operation with block cab control and eventually DDC. The layout is designed to be movable but not fully portable. The bench work is in 4 main pieces and it not attached the walls or the cabinetry other than sitting on the cabinets.
Off layout staging on the shelf above the left side will hold 95-110 cars (4-6 trains) . The on board staging will hold another 40-45 cars (2-3 trains) and the yard will hold another 65-75 cars.

Cross Over #1 Cross Over #2
Cross overs will allow trains climbing or decending the helix to enter the yard or the hidden staging. Cross over #1 is a standard X type cross over.
Cross over #2 will be a standard over then back setup, but with a crossing in between. Crossing will allow coal drags to access the branch line to mine #1.

This is the left end of the main yard. Track will allow two trains to be exiting or entering the yard at the same time. Coal trains will be flat switched into unit trains and way freights will drop\pick up cars for the other local industries from the yard also.

The top main line tracks will cross this area on a stone viaduct similar to one found on the old B&O. Bottom staging lead crosses a dummy branch line that may be used to future expansion.
